Voted One of the "Best Dentists in America"

PRESS RELEASE

April 25, 2005

Alameda, California dentist, Dr. James "Jim" Hinkle II, DDS, MAGD, has been named one of the best dentists in America by Woodward/White, Inc. The Best Dentists in America publication, representing eight specialties in all 50 states and Washington, DC, was compiled using a peer-review survey in which thousands of the top dentists in the U.S. confidentially evaluated their professional peers. The inaugural edition of Best Dentists (2004-2005), was based on more than 150,000 detailed evaluations of dentists by other dentists. Hinkle says, "Being recognized by one's peers is the highest and certainly most gratifying honor."

Jim discovered Alameda while serving in the Navy during the 70s. A graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Hinkle moved to Alameda after completing his military commitment and before attending Georgetown University's Dental School. He has been in private practice in Alameda since 1982. Dr. Hinkle and his family reside in Alameda.

Additional Info: Dentists never pay a fee to be listed in Best Dentists in America. Best Dentists is a reliable, unbiased source for finding a dentist. Woodward/White, Inc. has published The Best Lawyers in America for twenty years and founded The Best Doctors in America ten years ago. Both are the most respected referral lists in their professions, both because the selections are based on a thorough peer review process and because no fee or purchase is required.

What are Veneers?

Surprisingly, it is only in the last few decades that dentistry has made advances that allow dentists to adhere materials to the tooth surface. In the past it was necessary to cut some type of dovetail into the tooth to lock the material in place. Bonding eliminates the need to cut into the tooth to hold the repair. This opens the door to more conservative esthetic repairs such as veneers. Veneers are porcelain facings that bond over the face of teeth and are used to change size, shape, and/or color. They can be used to repair teeth that have been broken, lengthen worn teeth, close spaces, straighten irregularities, or correct color problems. By replacing just the enamel face of the teeth the remaining tooth stays strong, and the repair looks natural. For optimal esthetics the veneer is often first choice for smile makeovers.
